Kniga izvestnogo istorika N.A. Kornatovskogo "Borba za Krasnyj Petrograd" uvidela svet v 1929 godu. A potom ušla "v ten", potomu, čto ne vpisalas v novye mify, složennye o Graždanskoj vojne. Otvet na vopros "počemu belye ne vzjali Petrograd" otnjud ne tak prost. Byl geroizm, bylo samopožertvovanie. No bylo i massovoe dezertirstvo, i celye polki u belych, sformirovannye iz plennych krasnoarmejcev. Petrogradskij Sovet vypustil v oktjabre 1919 goda vozzvanie, načinavšeesja slovami "Opomnites! Pered kem vy otstupaete?".
