Lev Vladimirovič Losev (1937–2009) rodilsja v Leningrade, okončil Leningradskij universitet, rabotal redaktorom v žurnale «Koster» (1962–1975). V 1976 g. ėmigriroval v SŠA, zakončil aspiranturu Mičiganskogo universiteta, prepodaval russkuju literaturu v Dartmutskom kolledže v štate Nju-Gėmpšir. Stichi načal pečatat s 1979 g., snačala v ėmigrantskich izdanijach, a s 1988 g. i v Rossii. V svoem tvorčestve Losev sklonen k intellektualnoj igre, ego stichi polny alljuzij iz russkoj literatury vsech vekov. Po slovam Sergeja Gandlevskogo, v nich zvučit «dikovinnoe narečie sovetskogo socialnogo otščepenstva», metafizičeskie razdumja uživajutsja so zloboj dnja, mirovaja skorb sosedstvuet s kalamburom. Izdanie predstavljaet soboj naibolee polnoe na segodnjašnij den sobranie stichotvorenij poėta.
