Igor Severjanin (Igor Vasilevič Lotarev) rodilsja v Peterburge. V 1911 godu organizoval literaturnuju gruppu "Associacija ėgofuturistov". Programma ėgofuturistov, sformulirovannaja Severjaninym, predusmatrivala poiski novogo bez otverganija starogo, smelye obrazy, ėpitety, assonansy i dissonansy, osmyslennye neologizmy i t. p. V 1913 godu v moskovskom izdatelstve "Grif" vyšla pervaja bolšaja kniga stichov poėta "Gromokipjaščij kubok" (s predisloviem F.Sologuba), kotoraja sdelala avtora kumirom čitajuščej publiki, V 1918 godu na večere v Politechničeskom muzee v Moskve Severjanin byl nazvan "korolem poėtov".
